It’s a high-performance sedan with a practical side. The Dodge Charger is roomy and safe enough for the family while delivering monster power for quick getaways.
Let’s take a look at each of the performance models of the Dodge Charger.
SXT
As with every model, the base Charger SXT comes standard with rear-wheel drive (AWD is an option when paired with the V6 engine). Its V6 powertrain makes 292 horsepower and delivers a respectable 30 highway MPG (and it takes regular unleaded fuel). It includes enough power and creature comforts to make your daily routine more convenient and less mundane.
GT
The GT kicks up the performance a notch with an enhanced 3.6L V6 that kicks out 300 horsepower and plenty of torque to propel you from the on-ramp to the fast lane. The GT also upgrades the infotainment system to the Uconnect 4C and adds LED fog lamps that aren’t available on the SXT.
RT
Make the Dodge Charger RT your starting point if you’re looking for the right balance of performance and convenience. The RT introduces the powerful 5.7L HEMI V8 that cranks 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. You’ll also get a performance-tuned suspension and electronically controlled active exhaust that delivers that satisfying growl you want in a high-performance car.
Scat Pack and Scat Pack Widebody
Moving up to track-ready Charger models, we’ve got the Scat Pack and Scat Pack Widebody. The beefy 392 HEMI V8 offers up 485 horsepower with 475 pound-feet of torque to gallop from 0-60 in around four seconds. That extra power requires performance-enhanced brakes, so Dodge equips the Scat Pack with powerful Brembo brakes.
The widebody offers a more aggressive stance and upgrades the front brakes from four- to six-piston, and adds a Bilstein Adaptive Damping Suspension that lets you customize ride stiffness.
SRT Hellcat Widebody
It’s low, aggressive, and delivers hair-raising performance with its 6.2L HEMI SRT V8 power plant. The Hellcat Widebody rides the 717 horses under the hood to a top speed of 196 MPH. The Hellcat model upgrades the suspension to Dodge’s Widebody Competition Suspension and Launch Control technology and adds Pirelli PZERO all-season tires that have just the right amount of grip.
If you haven’t handled this kind of power before, Dodge offers the SRT Track Experience. This is a racing school that helps you get to know the high-performance capabilities of Dodge SRT vehicles.
SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody
Okay, for some folks, 707 horses just aren’t enough. So Dodge boosted the Hellcat’s supercharger from 2.4L to 2.7L, adding another 90 raging horses under the hood with 707 pound-feet of torque. That power takes you from 0-60 in less about three-and-a-half Mississippis.
The Hellcat Redeye includes a performance hood with heat extractors like its sibling. It also includes SRT Power Chiller and Race Cooldown technology which uses the air conditioning system’s refrigerant to further cool the air coming in the engine.
And, yes, it is the fastest and most muscular mass-produced sedan in the industry.
