The list of vehicles offered at your nearby Mazda dealership has never been a long one. For the 2022 model year, we do see a new vehicle added to the mix to give us something different from what we’ve been driving.
Until now, Mazda has not offered us an all-electric vehicle, but the new Mazda MX-30 is provided to give us this driving system and allow you to have the fun you want with an electric Mazda. The MX-30 is a subcompact crossover SUV, making it a useful vehicle for you to enjoy driving.
Don’t Get Caught Up in the Name
You might have thought that Mazda would be creative enough to come up with a name for their first all-electric vehicle that a new moniker would be used. Until now, the CX models signified crossovers, and the MX was used for the Miata sports car. The 30 numerical name is new to the mix, coming in with the CX-30 last year, a crossover between the CX-3 and CX-5. While we might be a bit confused by why the Mazda MX-30 is the name used for an electric crossover, that’s no reason to worry that it’s not the right name.
This Crossover is Good for City Driving
The Mazda MX-30 is an interesting, sleek, and stylish small SUV that is an interesting addition to the lineup. With rival vehicles offering more than twice the driving range on a full charge, it seems that Mazda might have missed the mark. Mazda uses a lightweight battery pack that can be charged quickly, but the driving range of this crossover is only 100 miles on a charge.
If you spend most of your time driving in a city, 100 miles just might be enough for you.
Specifically, if you want to know about the system powering this little SUV, it’s an electric motor and a 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. That’s a battery pack that’s smaller than the Nissan Leaf. You’ll have 143 horsepower and 200 lb.-ft. Of torque and can charge to 80 percent in three hours at home or in 36 minutes using a DC fast charger.
With a range of only 100 miles, you won’t get too far if you want to take a long trip. Mazda does have a program to offer a loaner vehicle to you once a year for ten days if you want to take long road trips. This program is good for the first three years of ownership of the Mazda MX-30, giving you a little flexibility in your drive.
What Will You Like About the MX-30?
The qualities that will stand out and make you happy to have this electric SUV include the Mazda handling manners, which still are some of the best in the business. You’ll love the attractive build, the fact that you have a zero-emissions vehicle to drive. This SUV is made with sustainable cabin materials, and it offers you a large cargo area for the stuff you might need to take with you.
Mazda is offering this all-electric version of the MX-30 for 2022 but will add hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions starting by the end of 2022 to give you some options that might make this SUV more attractive to driving longer distances.

That will come in later years, but for now, your Mazda dealership can show you the various paint colors that give you a multi-tone look to the MX-30. That’s about it; find the right paint color and let this little SUV look great when you take it out on the road.
Enjoy Using the MyMazda App

The MyMazda app will help you check the status of your MX-30 remotely. This app allows you to control the charging process, lock/unlock the doors, and set the cabin temperature before you unplug and take this SUV out for a drive.
Admire the Cabin and the Materials Used
As you step inside the Mazda MX-30 that you see at your nearby Mazda dealership, you’ll realize this SUV has something different going on. Mazda uses sustainable materials, including cork in the center console and door pulls. The fabric on the door panels is made from recycled plastic bottles.
