The Honda Pilot includes the CabinTalk feature, which makes this three-row SUV extremely useful for busy families on the go.
If your parents didn’t threaten you with the words “Don’t make me pull this car over,” did you really travel during your youth? Unfortunately, for decades, the message from parents to kids and from kids to parents could be misunderstood when communicating from the front seat to the third-row seat in vehicles. You would think that most minivans would have some form of communication for this distance, but most didn’t. Thankfully, the Honda Pilot has a cool feature called CabinTalk for just such an occasion.
Parents don’t have to shout any longer
The Honda infotainment screen features a clear icon in the bottom right corner that starts the communication process. Whatever the driver or front passenger needs to tell passengers in the rear is projected through the speakers using this system. While this feature is activated, the audio system is muted to give the person speaking an easy way to tell passengers in the rear whatever they need to. Instead of getting angry and shouting threatening words, the driver can simply speak into the audio system, and the message comes through loud and clear.
What happens if the kids don’t hear?
If kids don’t listen or hear the communicated message from the driver through the CabinTalk system in the Honda Pilot, all the driver has to do is turn up the volume, and their voice will be amplified when the message is communicated a second time. Parents won’t lose their voices during a road trip where they get frustrated and yell because the kids don’t want to settle down and listen. The Pilot will do the yelling for you through this system, making it much easier to get your point across.
Why is CabinTalk such a special feature of the Pilot?
Not all three-row vehicles offer this type of communication system, and some vehicles offering it cost a lot more than the Pilot. Toyota offers an “Easy Speak” feature, which is essentially the same thing but under a different name. This feature is only offered in Toyota high-occupancy vehicles, and those models aren’t nearly as affordable as the Honda SUV. The new Cadillac Escalade also has a similar communication system, but the trim level with this feature costs more than $100,000.
The Honda Pilot with CabinTalk comes with an MSRP of $36,000, which is much less than the Toyota and Cadillac vehicles with the same feature, making it more accessible and affordable for most families to use and enjoy.
Which Honda Pilot should you drive?
The 2024 Honda Pilot is offered in six different trims: LX, Sport, EX-L, Trailsport, Touring, and Elite. The sweet spot of this lineup is the EX-L. This trim gives you plenty of equipment to be comfortable and enough features to be useful and enjoyable on any road. This model brings you a set of second-row captain’s chairs that could be the ideal solution for squabbling siblings.
What else does the Honda Pilot EX-L offer?
The EX-L trim is the first Honda Pilot trim in the lineup with CabinTalk, which makes it the perfect choice for parents on the go. Whether you need to tell the kids to tuck and roll during a slowdown at the school curb or ask them what they want at the McDonald’s drive thru, this system is extremely helpful.
In addition to CabinTalk, this Honda SUV has:
