Meet the Improved 5.2L Predator V-8
Featuring the vehicle’s first-ever dry-sump oil system, the Mustang GTD’s supercharged 5.2L Predator V-8 engine is designed to impress. This brand-new Pony car puts out an astonishing 815 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to hit top speeds of 202 mph.
According to Greg Goodall, the GTD’s Chief Program Engineer, that’s more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GTR3 RS. The same dry-sump oil system that allows that extra power to flow safely also elevates the previous 5.2L V-8’s maximum engine speed to 7,650 rpm.
Finally, a revised intake and exhaust system and a smaller supercharger pulley all contribute to maximum engine output ratings.
Every Detail Counts in the Mustang GTD
Part of what sets this car apart from other Pony cars is the attention to detail given to every aspect of the project. With a near 50/50 weight balance, it offers responsive handling, top performance, and record speeds.
The GTD also features a short-arm front suspension for enhanced kinetics in high-G cornering, giving it an extra edge on the track. Optimal handling isn’t just crucial for racing. Since the 2025 Mustang GTD is street-legal, drivers will also appreciate it when they hit the open roads.
Ford’s expert engineers also incorporated essential details like forged carbon ceramic brakes, cooling multi-purpose front fender vents, and a standard carbon fiber C-pillar-mounted aero rear wing.

When it hits the Ford dealer, the Mustang GTD will feature a driver-centric cockpit outfitted with a 12.4-inch LCD digital cluster and a 13.2-inch center touchscreen. Drivers will be able to customize the dual display for total control.
