The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser brings the return of a highly-respected, off-road SUV. This new model takes a new position in the Toyota lineup.

The former Land Cruiser was larger than the Sequoia and positioned as the largest Toyota SUV. The new 2024 version takes a step back and comes in at a much lower price point than before. Instead of spending nearly $90,000 for this Toyota SUV, shoppers can expect the Land Cruiser to come in the mid-$50,000 price range. This new model comes in three trims; let’s see what each trim offers.

Stripping down to the 1958 model

The most stripped-down version of this new Toyota SUV is the 1958 trim. This name celebrates the first time the Land Cruiser was offered and brings some heritage-based qualities to the mix. This new Toyota SUV includes:

  • Round LED headlights
  • LED fog lamps
  • 18-inch wheels
  • Manually-adjustable, heated cloth seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 8.0-inch touchscreen
  • 6-speaker audio system
  • Rear locking differential
  • Toyota’s Crawl Control
  • 2400-watt AC inverter
  • Wireless phone charging
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alerts
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane-keep assist
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

The standard model fits in the middle

In most vehicles, the standard version is the lowest trim, but that’s not the case for the new Toyota Land Cruiser. This new Toyota SUV has a standard model in the middle of the trims. With this version, you’ll have:

  • Rectangular LED headlights
  • Rigid LED fog lights
  • Manually-adjustable, heated cloth seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • 8.0-inch touchscreen
  • Faux-leather heated, ventilated, and power seats
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen
  • 10-speaker audio system
  • rear climate controls
  • Electric-opening rear hatch
  • Multi-Terrain Select
  • Electronic disconnecting front anti-roll bar
  • Multi-Terrain Monitor
  • Roof rails

This trim has one options package called the Premium Package. The contents of this package are:

  • Real leather upholstery
  • Optional 20-inch wheels
  • 14-speaker JBL sound system
  • Head-up display
  • Digital rearview mirror
  • Sunroof

A First Edition model to celebrate the return

It’s becoming commonplace in the automotive world for a brand to offer a First Edition trim with each new vehicle. Although the Land Cruiser name isn’t new, this new build is, which gives Toyota good reason to provide a First Edition model at the top of the trim tree. Only 5,000 First Edition models will be made, making this a relatively limited trim.

This SUV includes:

  • Round headlights
  • Roof Rack
  • Rock Rails
  • Front skid plate
  • Mud flaps
  • Rear door guard
  • Tailgate light
  • Premium Package contents
  • Stitched case for the key

What colors are offered for the new Land Cruiser?

The new Toyota Land Cruiser can be had in seven different paint colors. In addition to the traditional white, gray, black, and tan colors, a new shade called Meteor Shower is offered. The Trail Dust and Heritage Blue colors come as a two-tone look with the roof painted in Grayscape, giving this new off-road SUV an impressive new style.

How much power does the Land Cruiser produce?

Regardless of the trim level, the new Land Cruiser uses an i-Force Max Hybrid powertrain comprised of a 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid 4-cylinder engine that produces 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. This power system mates to an 8-speed automatic transmission and full-time 4WD with a two-speed transfer case. This powertrain is good for 6,000 pounds of towing, making this new Land Cruiser capable and impressive.

Another way the new Toyota Land Cruiser takes a departure from the old is in terms of fuel efficiency. This new hybrid Toyota SUV should return 27 mpg combined. This makes it much more efficient than the 14 mpg achieved by the previous version.

The Kicker: Only five seats

This new Toyota SUV is shorter and narrower than the previous model, which means it’s only fitted with five seats. This also means you’ve got more cargo room than before, ensuring the new Land Cruiser’s place as an off-road adventure vehicle. This SUV could be the perfect choice when you want to head out on the trails where the older model would be too big.

The Land Cruiser is off-road ready

If you’re looking for an impressive off-road SUV, the new Toyota Land Cruiser features standard 4WD and excellent off-road angles. These angles are:

  • Approach angle – 31 degrees
  • Departure angle – 22 degrees
  • Breakover angle – 25 degrees

Add the 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and you’ve got an impressive Toyota SUV that’s ready to take on the most difficult challenges in the wilderness. Which of the three Land Cruiser trims will you choose?
