To the dismay of high-performance truck enthusiasts, it’s time to say goodbye to the Ram 1500 TRX. Looking for high-performance off-road trucks for sale will be a whole new game in years to come, but Ram isn’t leaving its loyal buyers out to dry.
The 2024 Final Edition Will Be the Last Model for This 702 HP Off-Road Truck
There is a lot to love about the Ram 1500 TRX. This astonishingly powerful high-performance truck features a 6.2L HEMI V8 hellcat engine that launches the vehicle from 0 to 60 MPH in just over four seconds.
Until this year, anyone looking for trucks for sale had to stop to check out the TRX. Now, all that is about to change. The 2024 model year will be the truck’s last one under production.
Why Did Ram Decide to Discontinue the 1500 TRX?
For those paying attention, it’s not surprising that Ram is discontinuing the TRX. The company already indicated its plans to discontinue the hellcat by 2023.
At least the automaker will give its most beloved high-powered truck a decent send-off. Production is wrapping up on the Ram 1500 TRX Final Edition as the end of the year approaches.
One Last Chance to Buy a TRX
Ram is manufacturing one last model of its 1500 TRX. The 2024 lineup includes the limited-edition Final Edition alongside the truck’s regular trim levels. Because it will be so rare, drivers can expect to pay nearly $120,000 for the privilege of owning one.
Thankfully for everyone unwilling to compete for the 4,000 official Final Edition trucks for sale, the automaker will still release its full line of regular TRX models. The popular high-performance machine goes into its final model year unchanged.
Is the TRX Truly Extinct?
While Ram is clear that the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX is the end of an era, that doesn’t mean Ram is leaving its loyal fans out to dry. Ram has already committed to adding a new truck to its high-performance pickup lineup, the RHO.
To be clear, the RHO is not just a rebranded TRX. The truck will still produce an impressive 540 HP, but it will do so with a twin-turbocharged 3.0L I-6. The tradeoff for the small amount of power lost is improved efficiency and greater sustainability.
Like the TRX, the RHO will be a fun off-roader with all the same equipment as its predecessor. Plus, it will have a wider body than today’s Ram 1500s and a more luxurious interior.
What’s the Best Option for Buying a New High-Performance Pickup?
Drivers looking for high-performance trucks for sale currently have three options. They can spend the money now on the final generation of the TRX, wait to check out the all-new RHO when it comes out, or switch to one of the brand’s competitors like the F-150 Raptor.
No matter which option you go for, there’s one thing that’s true across the board. Both performance pickup enthusiasts and Ram’s dedicated TRX fanbase are sad to see this beast of a truck go.
