Mercedes-Benz has changed the game with naming and with electrification. The new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will arrive in 2024.

The recent 2022 Paris Auto Show is where we first got a look at this new electric SUV from this luxury brand. This new model sits below the EQS in the lineup to be a smaller, midsize SUV that will bring three models to the market in 2024. One of those three will be an AMG version, which makes driving a lot more fun in this SUV

Where Does This New Electric SUV Fit in the Lineup?

This new Merc fits in a place that might make it feel like the Swiss Army Knife of the brand. This is an electric alternative to the GLE while being smaller than the EQS SUV. There’s already an EQE sedan, and the SUV version offers more room to make it more useful and versatile. The AMG model brings a higher-performance variant to the EQE SUV lineup. All of this will be part of the mix when the 2024 model year opens and helps ensure this Mercedes-Benz will grab our attention and never let go.

What You’ll See in this New SUV

The new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV increases the number of luxury EVs from this brand. The German brands seem to be taking over the EV world with some impressive models that bring tons of driving qualities to this new market. The electric vehicle world is expanding and taking over, and Mercedes-Benz is committed to offering only EVs in the future. This new EQE SUV features a futuristic-looking design and tons of tech in the cabin. We’ll see three electric powertrains offered for this model, making it one of the best EVs heading to the market.

How Big is the EQE SUV

This new Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle measures 191.5 inches long, 76.4 inches wide, and 66.4 inches tall. This means it’s a little shorter and lower than the model it replaces. The weight shouldn’t be a concern because EV batteries add lots of extra weight but offer the power desired for the electric drive you want to enjoy. It’s pretty easy to pick out this Mercedes-Benz vehicle; the design reflects the same qualities as the larger EQS SUV model. These two electric vehicles share a platform, and as you would expect from this brand, they share many design cues. Some of these design elements include the black panel where a grille is normally located and an LED light bar that stretches across the rear end.

Fewer Seats in the New Model than The Outgoing Version

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has been an SUV that offers up to seven seats, but the new EQE SUV doesn’t have this option. You’ll only find seating for five people. This could be part of the movement toward offering larger cabin areas in EVs to make passengers more comfortable. The lack of a transmission tunnel and the offering a front trunk means you can have extra cargo area in this SUV. When the rear seats are up, you’ll find 18.4 cubic feet of space in the EQE SUV, which expands to 59.2 cubic feet when these rear seats fold down. This new model offers the focus you want on comfort and design.

The Tech of the SUV is Similar to the Sedan

The look you’ll find for the dashboard of this new EQE SUV is nearly identical to the sedan version. You’ll find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen to give you the MBUX infotainment system. This system delivers a navigation system and brings you the connectivity desired when you’re out for a drive. Of course, you’ll also find over-the-air technology that adds more features and tech items to upgrade your SUV and give you the luxury experience desired.

What Models and Power Levels Are Found in the EQE SUV?

The three models offered when the new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV launches are the 350+, 350 4Matic, and 500 4Matic. The AMG model comes later, offering a high-powered version of this midsize luxury SUV. The base 350+ model uses a single electric motor to give you 288 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. If you choose the 350 4Matic, you’ll have an additional model on the front axle, which increases the torque level to 564 lb-ft.

Move up to the 500 4Matic version of this luxury electric SUV, and you’ll have a dual-motor system that delivers 536 horsepower and 633 lb-ft of torque. If you’re interested in sprint speeds, the time to reach 60 mph is 6.3 seconds for the 350+, 5.2 seconds for the 350 4Matic, and 4.6 seconds for the 500 4Matic models. No matter the version you choose, you’ll have a top speed of 130 mph.

What Are the Expected Driving Range and Charging Times?

The new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV should offer a driving range of more than 300 miles. The WLTP cycle used in Europe rates this SUV at 342 miles of range, but this system tends to be more optimistic than the EPA rating. Drivers can charge this SUV from 10 to 80 percent in 32 minutes using a 170-kW quick charger, giving you a fast charging time to enjoy the drive during some road trips.
This SUV is made to be a smooth, quiet, and comfortable road-going SUV, not a hardcore off-roader. Yes, it can have the AWD system called 4Matic, but that doesn’t mean it’s made for heading out on the trails.

Where is This New SUV Being Built?

The EQE SUV will be made alongside the EQS SUV at the plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This means the EQE SUV is being built in the same market where it’s being sold, making it a local SUV that wears one of the most respected luxury brand names. We don’t know the pricing offered yet and will likely learn a lot more about this electric SUV between now and when it’s offered as part of the 2024 model year.
