The state of Georgia and Rivian entered a partnership granting the new EV company a $1.5 billion incentive package.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Joint Development Authoring from four neighboring counties signed off on this new package. Rivian intends to invest $5 billion into this new plant located in Stanton Springs, Georgia. This partnership comes with a few incentives and requirements on both sides. New Jobs and a New Economic Boom

The EV manufacturer agreed to higher 7,500 full-time employees that will receive an average salary of $56,000 plus benefits. These jobs and salary levels must continue through 2047, and the the company must fill at least 80 percent of these full-time jobs by 2028 and maintain this level of employment for 20 years. If it doesn’t support this level of work, the company will suffer severe penalties owed back to the state. This puts the Peach State and this new EV startup in partnership for at least decades.

Residual Impacts on the Local Economy

Not only will the Rivian job level offer an increase in the economy, but an additional number of jobs should also be created in the area to support this new manufacturing plant. The anticipated number of new jobs should reach 15,400, and these jobs should generate more than $1 billion in labor income each year. The Georgia DOT will also build a new frontage road, widen Highway 278, create a new access road to the site, and build a new interchange for I-20. The new plant is going on a 500-acre patch in the area.
