The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a brand-new generation of America’s most popular midsize truck. Does it have what you want in your truck?
The Tacoma was overdue for an upgrade into a new generation, and it received this upgrade in the 2024 model year. This new truck brings improved technology, efficiency, and performance to make it the most impressive Tacoma every made. Let’s take a look at a few reasons why the 2024 Toyota Tacoma could be the right midsize truck for you to drive and enjoy.
This pickup includes the latest safety features
Safety is a top priority for Toyota, and its new truck has the latest package of features for your driving experience. This means you’ll find a standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 package, which includes:
- Pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection
- Full-speed dynamic radar cruise control
- Lane departure alert with steering assist
- Lane tracing assist
- Road sign assist
- Automatic high beams
- Proactive driving assist
- Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
- Front and rear parking assist with automatic braking
This comprehensive package of safety features makes it easy to love the Tacoma and everything it has for your driving needs.
You can still tow with the Tacoma
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma can pull up to 6,500 pounds and carry a payload of 1,710 pounds. This makes it a capable pickup truck that handles nearly all of your towing needs. Many midsize trucks match the Tacoma for towing, but not all surpass it. How often will you exceed the tow rating of the Tacoma? Most likely, this won’t happen very often at all. This Toyota truck also features available towing items to make pulling a trailer easier for you.
Beter off-road qualities
Toyota improved the off-road features of its popular midsize truck to make it easier to go deeper into the wilderness. There’s a new front stabilizer bar disconnect system that allows for greater wheel articulation and suspension flexibility. You’ll handle the challenge of riding over obstacles when facing rugged, uneven terrain. If you install a Toyota-approved lift kit, the electronic stabilizer bar disconnect is compatible with the kit. This makes your time on the trails much better than it would be without this upgraded system.
This Toyota truck has a quick-release tailgate
The new Tundra appeared with a quick-release tailgate, now its featured on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. You’ll find a black button on either side of the tailgate that allows the tailgate to unlatch and slowly lower for easier unloading. A second press of the button allows this item to close and put itself back in position without your intervention. If you push the tailgate up lightly with your knee or other body part, it will close automatically for you.
Tons of trims
The previous generation of the Tacoma was said to have up to 30 configurations. The trims continued forward for the new model, while a new trim has been added for this new generation model. This makes the Tacoma a versatile choice which comes with either RWD or 4WD and can be had with two different cab configurations. You’ll also find two bed lengths to choose from. It could be that there are more than 30 configurations for the latest version of the Tacoma.
Toyota gives this Tacoma two engines
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma has two engines and three power levels to give you the driving performance desired. The base engine is a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder model that mates to either an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. The SR trim produces 228 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque from this setup, but higher trims deliver 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. These power figures are listed with the automatic transmission.
There’s also a hybrid i-Max Hybrid powertrain that uses the same engine and an electric motor that allows the truck to produce 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.
Choose the right driving modes
The Multi-Terrain Select driving mode allows you to set the truck to handle several off-road terrains. These modes include Mud, Dirt, and Sand settings to make it easy to ride around on the trails. You can use these settings in both 4WD High and 4WD Low settings. You’ll also find a Crawl control system, which is like a low-speed cruise control for off-roading. This system manages five selectable speeds to let you focus on steering.
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a serious upgrade over the previous generation, making it one of the most useful off-road trucks in the market. Is the Tacoma the right truck for you?
