Will INFINITI Go Rogue with Their Next Crossover SUV?

A new crossover SUV based on the Nissan Rogue platform may be coming to a dealership near you, but it won’t be a Nissan dealership. Nope, this new compact crossover will get a luxury upgrade and come in the form of an Infiniti.

Infiniti Returning to the Compact Luxury SUV Market?

The Infiniti lineup has been shrinking over the past several years. Right now, it consists of the QX50, QX55, the QX60, and the QX80, but the small QX50 and QX55 will no longer be offered after this year. But don’t worry, Infiniti doesn’t plan on offering its customers only two SUVs. A new model is in the works.

Infiniti May Be Going Rogue

There are some reports coming out that Infiniti, which is the luxury arm of Nissan, has a new compact crossover under consideration. Internally, it’s being called the i33C, and if all goes according to the current plan, it will arrive in 2027 as an Infiniti that will be built on the same platform as the Rogue.
If the new model is approved, it won’t be a surprise to see it coming off the production line in the Smyrna, Tennessee production facility alongside the Nissan Rogue.

Nissan Power for the New Infiniti

Although a new Infiniti compact SUV is still under consideration, if it does come to fruition, the current plan is for the next generation model to arrive with hybrid power. Nissan’s e-Power technology has both a hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain, and it’s being considered as the powertrain for the new Infiniti.

A More Glamorous Version of the Rogue

While the new Infiniti may get its platform and power from Nissan and the Rogue, it will most likely be all Infiniti on the inside, have the Infiniti, and improve ride and handling over the Rogue.
Now, you may be asking why Nissan doesn’t develop a new Rogue with all of this luxury and glamour? They have a very good reason for leaving it to Infiniti. They don’t want to trample on the higher-end Nissan Rogue Platinum trim. This top-tier model has some upscale features such as quilted leather seats, Bose stereo, and a dual-panel moonroof.

Why Is Infiniti Considering a New Compact SUV?

The new Infiniti crossover has not been approved yet, so there are a lot of details that we don’t know. But if it does head to dealerships, one of the goals is to attract first-time luxury SUV buyers.

So What’ Going on with the Rogue?

The next-generation Nissan Rogue is also coming in 2027. If you’ve been waiting to see what’s next with this compact crossover, it’s coming to a Nissan dealership near you in the near future.
If you don’t want to wait until 2027, a hybrid version of the Rogue will arrive in 2026, with a hybrid powertrain from Mitsubishi. The 2027 model will feature Nissan’s e-Power tech, which they are developing in-house.
There’s a lot more to come about these Nissan and Infiniti models, so stay tuned!
