New Trim for the Chevy Silverado 1500: The ZR2

New Trim for the Chevy Silverado 1500: The ZR2

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 isn’t your grandfather’s pickup truck. Chevy decided to add off-road capability that rivals hardcore trucks.

This new ZR2 model is known for creating new paths and leaving the competition in the dust.

Currently, the only place to get a ZR2 trim is on the mid-size Chevy Colorado. With the Colorado ZR2’s fantastic reception, we expect the full-size Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 to be an instant hit.

Whether you are looking for an off-road capable beast or just love seeing what the engineers at the Chevrolet Motor Company will come up with next, it’s time to explore the all-new Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 model coming soon.

What Is “ZR2?”

The ZR2 model name is a special off-road package that Chevy has been offering on various SUVs and pickup trucks since 1994. It was eventually phased out when the S-Series vehicles hit the production line, but it came back on the scene in 2017 with an offering on the Chevy Colorado.

Since all of the details on the Silverado 1500 ZR2 aren’t available just yet, you can look at the Colorado’s updates to get an idea of what’s coming. While the Colorado ZR2 comes with a more powerful engine and some other features loved by mid-size truck enthusiasts, its off-road updates are really where it stands out: a 2.0-inch lift kit, 3.5-inch wider tracks, and updated front/rear locking differentials, to name a few.

What To Expect On America’s Favorite Pickup

Experts expect the Silverado ZR2 model to come with some of Chevy’s best engine options:

5.3-liter V8 engine offering 355 horsepower

6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower

Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine

There’s reason to believe that you’ll see a higher lift on the new Silverado along with 35-inch tires and additional skid plates.

Rumors We Hope Are True

Some reports suggest that the new Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 could come with the option of a Duramax I-6 turbodiesel that offers incredible fuel economy and 460 lb-ft of torque. Truck lovers will have to wait until this model is officially released later this year to know for sure.

According to some sources who claimed to see the new ZR2 on Chevy’s ZRX race track, the Silverado 1500 ZR2 is going to be loaded with extra-wide DSSV shocks, additional armor, and an updated look.

Just Wait for the Anticipation

Since all of the specs for the new Silverado ZR2 aren’t out yet, drivers just have to sit tight and wait. There’s enough excitement in the air that even the makers of the Ford F-150 Raptor and RAM 1500 TRX are getting nervous.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 is definitely going to be one for the record books. Stop by your local Chevy dealer to learn more and eventually reserve yours.
