While its appearance at your local GMC dealer might still be some time away, the highly anticipated 2024 Hummer EV SUV is finally in the production stage. At the end of January, production on the Hummer EV SUV started at GM Factory Zero with Edition 1. GM also confirmed that customers should begin getting their deliveries by the end of the first quarter.

Starting Hummer EV SUV With Edition 1

Like the previous Hummer SUT, the Hummer EV SUV starts production with Edition 1. This edition is already sold out. GMC took over 90,000 reservations for the Hummer SUT and SUV combined. The numbers were split pretty evenly between both vehicles. The SUT pickup is larger than the SUV, but not by much.

The starting price of Edition 1 was $105,595. Reservations for Edition 1 went live way back in 2021. The SUV will be built along with the SUT at the same factory—GM Factory Zero. The SUV is powered by two or three electric motors, depending on the trim. The two-motor setup will generate a combined estimate of 625 horsepower. The Edition 1 belongs to the three-motor
setup and should make 830 horsepower.

Torque figures are harder to predict. GMC claims it can make between 7,400 and 11,500 pound-feet, but real-world figures are more likely to be around 1,000 and 1,100 pound-feet. The Edition 1’s range is likely to be over 300 miles.

A Look at Options and Extras

Just like it was for the Hummer SUT pickup, the color options are limited for the SUV. All Edition 1 models will come in Moonshot Green Matte. Additional features and colors are expected to be announced later when the rest of the models become available. The regular production of the Hummer EV SUV will feature the EV2, the EV2X, and the EV3X. The base EV2 will start at $79,995. The top EV3X trim will start at $99,995.

Inside, all Hummer EV SUV models are quite cavernous, with up to 82 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded. The 3D dashboard features two large displays, but drivers who like physical controls will appreciate the plethora of hard buttons and a rotary drive-mode selector on the center console.

The Edition 1 model has many upscale extras like bronze accents and leather-stitched surfaces. The Hummer cabin also features removable roof panels for an open-air driving experience.

Safety Features and Driver Assistance

The most talked-about feature of the Hummer EV SUV is the crab mode, which allows the vehicle to move diagonally with four-wheel steering. The Hummer EV SUV will also come with an enhanced version of GM Super Cruise for hands-free highway driving. It’s expected to have a lot of additional driver assistance technology that is on many other GM vehicles. This should include things like lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.
