Chevrolet Adds A Pursuit Rated Silverado for Law Enforcement
Your local Chevrolet dealer may have just gotten a little cooler. Chevrolet just debuted its first Silverado that is rated for pursuit. This pursuit truck is unlike anything else available at your favorite Chevrolet dealer but has some familiar elements we already know and love.
The new Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle comes as a crew cab with a short-bed and four-wheel-drive. It was designed to take on high speeds without sacrificing comfort and storage space. This Silverado comes after a quarter-century of success from the Chevy Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV).
Check Out These Specs
To ensure that the Silverado PPV is fully capable of meeting the demands of police work, this truck comes fully loaded. It starts with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that is paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission to create 355 horsepower. Throw in updated Brembo Brakes and a heavy-duty air filter for good measure.
To ensure that this truck can handle high-speed pursuits, the Silverado PPV is equipped with a certified speedometer and 20-inch wheels featuring 20-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires rated for high speeds. When these trucks aren’t in a high pursuit situation, they are excellent at hauling trailers with a 9,300-pound max towing capacity, perfect for marine and mounted divisions.
For work that takes place off of the pavement, the Silverado PPV is loaded with the Silverado’s Z71 Off-Road Package: Rancho shocks, a locking rear differential, and a skid plate. These trucks can also be lifted up to two inches, offering a best-in-class 11.35-inches of ground clearance.
The Silverado PPV is comfortable and practical. It comes with a 220-amp alternator and two 120-volt outlets that keep the various digital devices charged and ready to go. Officers will also enjoy the power cloth seats that allow them to quickly and easily adjust the seat to their needs.
Keeping The Boys and Girls in Blue Safe
Every Silverado PPV is loaded with all of the safety features available to help officers keep safe while on duty. While most of these driver-assist features are available on other vehicles at your local Chevrolet dealer, it’s rare to see so many combinations put together.
Here’s what the Silverado PPV provides towards officer safety with standard and available features:
- Lane keeping assist
- Lane departure warning
- Forward collision alert
- Following distance indicator
- Automatic emergency braking
- Front pedestrian braking
- IntelliBeam headlights
- Protected Idle
- Adaptive cruise control
- Rear parking assist

Not Just For Law Enforcement
While the Silverado PPV is only available for local police forces, the power and practicality of these PPVs are available on other vehicles at your local Chevrolet dealers. Whether you’re looking for a performance-based workhorse like the Silverado 1500, a speedster like the Corvette, or a people hauler like the Tahoe, there’s an amazing Chevrolet out there for everyone.
